Hi @preetk25627-dotcom , thanks a lot for picking up on the issue, studying the conversations and proactively putting forth one of the concrete suggestions. I'm just busy writing a post on thoughts on the issues page, and then we can get back to this. |
|
Let's see what the general opinion is. Perhaps what people might want to comment on here is whether we just want a tick box or also ask for the additional fields. |
|
Hello. Indeed let's wait for others to be back online ... In any case, the extra tick box @cantel suggests makes sense, and for a request template I would move it to https://github.com/HSF/.github, as suggested in #1919, so that it gets used everywhere. |
|
Thank you both and thank you @cantel for pushing forward with this. I was going to make the suggestion that we move this and general PRs for CONTRIBUTING files or templates under the general organisation-wide repo https://github.com/HSF/.github. Apologies if this comes annoyingly late! We could still converge on the final version here, since this is "where it all started", and then close linking to the actual and identical PR, which we merge. (See similar comment at the related PR #1953 (comment).) |

Hi @eduardo-rodrigues , I'll let you decide whether to apply it more widely : ) I am ready to submit the whole thing to .github instead, or just here. I consider this and the other PR ready now. |
|
You made a point that it is best not to immediately impose this template on every repo under the HSF. We can move eventually, if preferred by many. Let's proceed then in here. Thanks. |

Ready to merge also from me. Approving.

(Just forgot to restate what I suggested above - basically, add the link to the "contributing guidelines" in this template once we have that link. Can do at a later stage.) |
|
@cantel @eduardo-rodrigues Thanks for the reviews and for refining the template. Happy to proceed here as agreed. |

Hi. Merging to nicely close the week ("via this PR", a geek would say :D.) |
Summary
This PR adds a pull request template with an optional AI usage disclosure section.
It implements the lightweight approach discussed in #1919 by allowing contributors to indicate whether AI tools were used while preparing the pull request and, if applicable, briefly describe how they were used and what was manually reviewed.
PR intentionally focuses on the pull request template and does not introduce broader AI contribution policy documentation.
Related to #1919 and #1953.
