Summary

MiniMax Bot 0.7.4 keeps the chat transcript readable when several background tasks are running, and keeps the left rail and chat list pinned to the window.

The task strip (.helpers) is a column flex item whose default minimum height is its content. Each running task is one row, so the strip grew without a cap. The transcript (.feed) could shrink, but only down to its 84px of padding (72px under the floating chat pill plus 12px below), which is about one line. Anything past the window — extra task rows, approval cards, the composer — overflowed the document. That page scroll carried the left rail and chat list with it, so they were not pinned.

Same treatment as the settings scroll fix: min-height: 0 on the pieces that must shrink, plus an explicit floor and an internal scrollport.

  • The transcript floor is min(220px, 48%). Extra space still goes to the transcript.
  • Task rows cap at min(280px, 40%) and scroll inside the strip. A few rows stay fully visible; more than that scroll.
  • Approval cards use the same shrink-and-scroll rule so they cannot crush the transcript the same way.
  • html / body / .app no longer form a document scrollport (overflow: hidden, height 100dvh with a 100vh fallback). The icon rail and chat list are sticky, full height, and their own lists scroll.

Patch bump 0.7.3 → 0.7.4 in package.json and .minimax-plugin/plugin.json so an installed copy can pick up the layout fix.

Verification

Chrome headless, real app.css, and a fixture with the same shell (rail, side, feed, helpers, approvals, composer). Inner heights below are window.innerHeight.

Viewport Case Before After
780px 4 task rows transcript fills the rest (rows are only ~180px) transcript 510px, all 4 rows visible, no strip scroll
780px 12 task rows transcript 142px, strip 548px, no strip scroll transcript 410px, strip capped at 280px and scrolls (548/280)
480px (window minHeight) 4 and 12 rows 12 rows plus 2 approvals: document 1045px, transcript 84px, composer off-screen transcript held at 220px, strip scrolls, composer flush with the bottom
357px 4 task rows transcript 87px (padding), one sliver of chat transcript 171px, strip scrolls (180/96)
480px, scrolled 12 rows + 2 approvals rail and chat list move to top: -400 both stay at top: 0; the chat list scrolls internally (scrollTop 400)

npm run check passes. minimax-bot reports no errors. The warnings it prints are from other packages and are unchanged.

Before: twelve task bars leave only a few messages
After: the transcript stays tall and the task strip scrolls

Residual risks

  • Not exercised inside the MiniMax Code host window, only in Chrome with the production stylesheet and the same DOM structure. A host that scrolls the webview from outside this document can still move the whole shell; sticky positioning cannot pin against that outer scroll.
  • On a short window the 72px pill padding sits inside the transcript floor, so the readable message area is smaller than the floor (about two lines near 360px, about four lines at the 480px minimum).
  • A very tall composer (the textarea can grow to 220px) plus many tasks and approval cards keeps the transcript at its floor and scrolls the strips. The input stays on screen.
  • 100dvh is ignored by older webviews; 100vh remains the fallback.

The helper strip used its content height as a flex minimum, so the
transcript collapsed to its padding and the page scrolled the sidebar
away. Cap that strip and pin the shell.
