🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winRetry ordinary demand when cleanup completes.
When
subscribeChangesadmits an ordinary subscriber while asynchronous cleanup is active,startSyncIfStopped()sees public statusreadyand does nothing.sync.resumeStart()also does nothing because cleanup cleared the deferred-start flags. Cleanup later publishescleaned-up, but no completion path restarts this demand. The subscription status listener only retries detached demand for
loadingandready; it ignorescleaned-up. Queue a retry for ordinary demand at theCollectionChangesManagercleanup-completion boundary. Otherwise the subscriber remains active while the sync handlers are cleared, so it receives no provider updates until another operation starts a new sync.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Law: ordinary hook errors remain readable; failed setup transfers no resource ownership. See the shared conformance and lifecycle contracts. Reach: generated origin/timing, late cleanup, partial attach and real React ordinary/infinite histories enforce mandatory reach minima in the audit. RED: extended owners reject parent 929c1d4 at handoff throw, failed-setup lease, and post-unmount ownership assertions before the repairs. GREEN: 2816 core tests, 462 React tests, six guarded replays, scoped lint and the 418-name private-member check pass. Mutant: broad recorded-error throws, late status ownership, and narrow peer detach all fail their intended assertions. Limits: finite histories; H04/H08 need legal failing traces. Earlier SSR snapshot policy remains open. Preserve rejection during active cleanup. Record measured bundle growth and refactors tried in the versioned audit.
🎯 Changes
An ordinary subscriber can now start a source left deferred by an abandoned React render. Previously, that subscriber could remain loading indefinitely.
The same deferred reads exposed an SSR mismatch. Query A could warm a source and let ordinary query B render rows absent from its hydration payload. This PR requires explicit preparation for that server read. It also captures the prepared query view when the server renders it, so later activity cannot change the first browser view.
Subscription demand and cleanup
Independent demand records its intent, requests sync, then releases the render deferral. Abandoned ordinary renders still start no provider work. Cleanup during startup can retire that start without implicitly starting a replacement. A surviving subscriber retains demand for an explicit restart.
Ordinary subscription admission and deferred acquisition resumption throw
CollectionStateErrorduring active cleanup before changing ownership. Callers can awaitcollection.cleanup()and retry explicitly. This rule also applies to cleanup that GC starts. Effects created during cleanup return disposed handles and report the cause throughonSourceError.Ordinary hooks keep recorded runtime errors readable through
statusandisError. Actual synchronous startup throws remain fail-fast. Explicit preloads report source startup failures. The handoff attempts every source before reporting its first failure.Failed observer attachment releases every acquired channel. Detachment retires attachment state before invoking release handles, so a reported release failure cannot block a later explicit subscription. Pooled queries retain status-release ownership before cleanup registration can invoke a synchronous callback. Each acquired status handle receives one release invocation. Cleanup remains terminal for dependent queries.
SSR preparation and the initial browser view
Ordinary SSR can render empty/loading state without a preload. To render data or readiness, await a matching
DbClient.preloadLiveQuery()or explicitly preload the source Collections. A different query warming the source does not prepare this query. Unsupported reads throw error 245 with preparation steps. Opaque SSR queries require a serializablequeryKey, including when their sources are warm.Normalized source rows alone do not prove query readiness. When a server hook reads prepared sources, DbClient captures the query's rows and status in its existing query-result transport. Ready prepared queries can therefore finish non-streaming Suspense. Loading queries retain loading status. A loading capture does not complete a later explicit data preload or replace an established pending stream.
The first browser hook uses the captured view, even if source rows arrive after server render or a browser preload completes before hydration. Browser commit starts acquisition and publishes the live result normally. React calls the server getter during hydration, so server admission checks run only in the server environment. Svelte applies the same admission contract during server initialization.
Streaming Suspense prepares its result during render, including when another query warmed the source. A component that suspends has not rendered its loading view. Its settled stream supplies the first rendered result. Local acquisition can start while a server stream remains pending.
An ordinary sibling can render loading before Suspense completes the same query. Each reader keeps its own first view during hydration. Router forwards newer versions of the same query hash. An ordinary commit cannot consume the snapshot of a later-hydrating boundary. That boundary waits for missing streamed rows instead of substituting browser rows. DbClient retains transported server records until cleanup. New browser reads still use live results.
The infinite hook consumes its prepared initial window through the shared observer. Its preload includes the window's one-row peek. Explicit query keys also include limit and offset, so bounded and unbounded results cannot share hydration records. Matching builder and supplied Collection windows retain the same transport identity. Selecting a replacement Collection also recomputes its query hash.
The SSR guide includes matching loader/hook forms, initial infinite windows, indexes before compilation, and preload ownership. Explicit keys require matching keys and initial windows in the loader and hook. Custom dehydration filters must retain the query result that the markup requires.
🔬 Oracle evidence
The branch includes merged main and #2233. The oracle skills require affected public receiving paths to run before production edits. Setup failures and missing witnesses block that gate.
The SSR review audit preserves all ten raw claims, their test gaps, RED results, calibration and final dispositions. All ten findings reproduced and have fixes. The migration audit retains earlier evidence and unresolved reports. The coverage map identifies the executable owners and their limits.
f374bdbb1before production edits. They rejected forced loading, browser admission, late-row mismatches, missing opaque identity and incorrect infinite-query hashes.hydrate(). A second server render receives no browser-evidence credit.a0991825efails initial-view equality and drops the replacement Router record. Retaining records alone still fails while streamed rows remain pending. The expanded property rejects that narrower fix.Observer release and pooled cleanup properties retain error identity and every release invocation. The synchronous throwing-release premise is controlled. Real Collection event callbacks report errors asynchronously. The callback-returned Collection identity witness exercises JavaScript runtime resolution and adds no TypeScript overload.
✅ Verification
pnpm test.Scoped final checks:
From each framework package:
pnpm exec vitest run --coverage.enabled=false --maxWorkers=2The broader lifecycle command remains:
That historical run passed 2,816 tests at
83bd08ded. Earlier integration passed 64 persistence readiness tests. These results do not claim a full repository run on the current head. A broad replay-protocol run stalled and receives no GREEN credit. The separate scoped checks and six guarded replays passed.pnpm size:compare --packages db,react-db,react-router-with-db --filescompares the full branch with merged main65d9ada50. db grows 799 gzip / 891 brotli bytes. React grows 117 gzip / 129 brotli bytes. Router grows 25 gzip / 27 brotli bytes. The typical app grows 479 gzip / 527 brotli bytes. Other scenarios grow 437–488 gzip bytes. This fix no longer uses the separate WeakMap or forced-loading snapshot copies. It reuses existing query-result records. A browser-only guard fails render-time equality in both hosts. Treating a loading capture as completed demand fails preload settlement. Replacing its pending record fails stream identity. Dropping its initial snapshot fails hydration after a browser preload. Dropping window metadata fails matching preload identity. Registered builder metadata also avoids arbitrary adapter utilities and reduces production by five lines. The mixed-reader fix reuses the existing initial snapshot field and serializes both views only when they differ. Router replaces its hash Set with a version Map. Keeping only active records fails later hydration after a sibling commits. The retained map holds references to transported records until client cleanup. It adds no timer or retry lifecycle. The audit separates production growth from tests and documentation.
The generated sources remain synchronous and eager. Infinite coverage checks the initial window. Arbitrary asynchronous providers, persistence readiness, later page-shape changes, arbitrary concurrent-root hydration schedules and deployed Start/Electric hosts remain unexercised receiving paths. No known counterexample remains in this review's fixed scope.
Two earlier reports still need legal failing traces: recoverable pooled subscription throws and demand permanently stranded after a notification throw. The Date typing report needs its failing assignment and dependency versions.
CI at
a0991825epassed every unit shard. Lint rejected a dynamic one-run replay override, and browser E2E was canceled. This follow-up uses the shared replay options directly. Both normal 75-run campaigns and the direct seed/path replay pass. The older property has no named manifest owner, so its direct run receives no guarded-replay credit. All reported checks pass atb4955406a, including Lint, browser E2E and every unit shard. CodeRabbit remains paused at its last covered commit,da37bc9bb. No new external review was requested. The three earlier fixture gaps keep whole-PR readiness unproven.🚀 Release impact
