Add October 16 changelog entry - #709
Conversation
Covers product and documentation updates shipped since October 6, limited to work that is deployed and reachable by customers. Features still behind a rollout flag or only on canary browser images are left out. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

| - The Launch Browser dialog is reorganized around a side nav, and network controls — saved proxy routes and private hosts — are available on browser launch and pool creation. | ||
| - Vault details split into credentials and payments in the dashboard, with search and row actions on the vault list and managed auth credentials shown next to payment items. | ||
| - The [MCP server](/reference/mcp-server) gained a `manage_browser_files` tool. It reads, downloads, and zips files in the browser's filesystem, up to 10 MiB by default and 25 MiB at most. | ||
| - MCP tool inputs now mirror the API's `proxy` and browser objects, tool annotations follow ChatGPT app guidelines, WebMCP listings leave out `outputSchema` by default, and vault errors come back from the API unchanged. |

Product updates lack domain grouping
Low Severity
The October 16 Product updates span Auth, Payments, and Browsers as one flat list. When Product covers two or more of those areas, this changelog groups the bullets under those headings, as the October 2 entry does.

| - Per-host proxy routes extend to [browser pools](/browsers/pools), with `--proxy-route` and `--clear-proxy-routes` on `kernel browser-pools create` and `update`. | ||
| - Residential traffic now routes across several providers. Each session gets a preferred provider, and a destination that provider doesn't support — or can't reach during an outage — fails over to a compatible one, so exit IPs can differ between destinations in a session. Paired ISP proxies share the same failover path. See [residential proxies](/proxies/residential). | ||
| - Datacenter proxies are deprecated. `--type datacenter` is gone from the CLI and the generated SDKs, and the docs point to [ISP proxies](/proxies/isp) instead. Existing datacenter configurations keep working. | ||
| - `kernel browsers telemetry stream --types` filters the live [telemetry](/browsers/telemetry/overview) stream by event type, server-side. |

CLI mentions omit version ranges
Low Severity
Several Product bullets cite CLI commands and flags — including kernel browsers create --gpu --video-memory, vault item invoke, get-encryption-key, --proxy-route, and telemetry stream --types — without a published CLI version range. Earlier entries that name CLI surfaces include one.

Summary
Adds the October 16 changelog entry, covering product and documentation updates since the October 6 entry.
Scope rule applied while drafting: an item is listed only if it is merged, deployed, and reachable by customers today. Work that is merged but still gated is left out:
KERNEL_CONNECTION_FAILEDparent-frame event, preinstalled@playwright/test, and session ID/name on telemetry events ship only in the canary browser image, which routes to internal orgs, one opted-in org, and 1% of orgs. The default image does not contain them.us-westis accepted by the API and CLI, but no production hosts serve it and no organization can select it yet.Three items from the original draft were dropped for accuracy: project-level spending caps (shipped in April), WebGPU adapter and texture-format persona coverage (no such change merged), and a pools guide fix whose documentation PRs were closed unmerged. Datacenter proxies are described as deprecated rather than removed, since the API still accepts existing configurations.
Bug fixes are omitted, matching the format of recent entries.
Validation
api.onkernel.com, published SDK and CLI releases, production feature-flag state, and the browser image hash in use.mintlify devwas not run.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
Note
Low Risk
Documentation-only change to the changelog MDX; no runtime or API behavior is modified.
