Python 3.11+

Python 3.10 has reached end of life, so the package now requires Python 3.11 or newer. This is a breaking change.

  • pyproject.toml: requires-python = ">=3.11". Removed the 3.10 classifier and added Python :: 3 / Python :: 3 :: Only. The 3.11–3.14 classifiers stay.
  • uv.lock: re-locked for the new floor. Only requires-python changed, plus the removal of the 3.10-only backports exceptiongroup and typing-extensions. No other versions changed.
  • CI (test.yml): the matrix is now Python 3.11–3.14. Removed the 3.10 rows and the 3.10/Django 6.0 exclude. Django 6.0 on 3.11 is still excluded.
  • Makefile: removed the 3.10:* pairs from TEST_MATRIX.
  • Added a changie Removed fragment, which triggers a major bump.

The release workflow already builds on Python 3.13.

Verification

  • pytest on Python 3.11 with Django 4.2 and 5.2, and on Python 3.13 with Django 4.2, 5.2 and 6.0: all pass (6 tests each).
  • ruff check: passes.

Notes

  • ruff format --check reports 15 files that would be reformatted, both on master and on this branch. CI only runs ruff check, so this was left alone.
  • Django 4.2 is EOL (April 2026). The 2.0.0 changelog says Django < 5.2 support was removed, yet dependencies still allows Django>=4.2 and CI still tests 4.2. These should be aligned in a follow-up.

BREAKING CHANGE: requires Python 3.11 or newer.
These checks now run via the org-wide required workflows in
labd/.github-workflows.
