SaneDev.snap() raises SANE_STATUS_INVAL on Epson epsonscan2 backend at any depth — works with scanimage #107
SaneDev.snap() fails with _sane.error: Invalid argument (SANE_STATUS_INVAL) on every scan through the Epson epsonscan2 backend. The failure is independent of scan mode and depth — reproduced at 1-bit lineart and 8-bit grayscale. The same device scans cleanly with scanimage at both depths, so hardware, USB permissions and the backend itself are all functional.
Same here: Epson ET-2710, epsonscan2 backend, Ubuntu 26.04, python3-sane 2.9.2. scanimage works, but scanning through python-sane (scantpaper 3.0.24) fails with Invalid argument on every scan.

Installing #109 (commit d968c19) fixed it:
pip install --user "git+https://github.com/python-pillow/Sane.git@refs/pull/109/head"Scanning now works. Could a maintainer take a look at #109? Downstream apps (scantpaper, gscan2pdf's successor) are waiting on it.
